Makarska – the heart of the Dalmatian coast, is a city where nature and man breathe in the same rhythm. Located at the foot of the impressive Biokovo, with a view stretching towards the islands of Brač and Hvar, Makarska is much more than a summer destination. It is a city with a soul, a place where the streets are intertwined with history, and every step carries a story.
A walk through the old city center reveals stone facades, small squares, charming taverns and galleries that invite you to take a break and look around. Central Kačić Square, with the church of St. Marka and the city market, lives throughout the day – residents and visitors, morning shoppers and evening walkers meet here. The city waterfront, lit by the sun, is a place for drinking coffee, informal conversations and enjoying the view of the city port, ships and the sea.
Makarska offers a wealth of content, adapted to different interests. A sports center with an athletic track and tennis courts, cycling and hiking trails towards Biokovo, boat trips, adrenaline sports and numerous cultural events provide a variety of experiences throughout the year.

Two peninsulas – Osejava and Sveti Petar – give Makarska a special charm. The Osejava peninsula begins at the southeastern edge of the city’s waterfront and covers about 70 hectares of pine forest. It offers two paths: one leads along the sea to the world-famous Nugal beach, while the other, through the forest, connects Makarska with Tučepi – perfect for lovers of nature and peaceful walks. Sveti Petar, easily accessible from the city port, offers seclusion, panoramic views of the Brač Channel and corners for resting in the shade.
Despite its popularity, Makarska has kept its measure. There is no excessive rhythm, everything is within reach – from the local market and fish market, to restaurants with Dalmatian specialties and pastry shops that smell of childhood.
Here, the days are filled with the simplicity and beauty of everyday life: early morning swimming, late breakfasts, afternoon rest in the shade, evenings by the sea, music and pine scents.
Makarska is not just a point on the map. It is a feeling, a pace that pleases, a place that will not be forgotten. A city that lives with nature, but also with the heart of every visitor who returns to it – again and again.
